Uncle François's room
Uncle François room is one of the most prestigious of our guest rooms. It is located on the first floor and its tall windows overlook the park and the lakes.
This room is vast and very majestic. It has a king size bed topped with a canopy, a boudoir with a tall Cuban mahogany wardrobe. The bathroom with bathtub and shower is modern and sophisticated. Hair dryer.
The floor is 18th century parquet. The walls are covered with fabric, XVIII century wood panelling and family portraits.
It was my uncle François’s bedroom. During WWII a Dutch friend of my mother Dagmar Drisbeck, had escaped from Holland to take refuge here. When she was arrested in Boucéel by the Gestapo, my uncle François proposed to the Germans to be taken as prisoner instead of her. They refused and Dagmar was sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp where she died in 1945, the day the camp was freed by Russian army. All our guest rooms have connection to the internet and are no-smoking rooms.
